Something comfortable to slip into...

Hmmm. That blog title could attract quite the wrong audience so best we clear up what we are talking about today...

Baths (and slippers).

Right, now that's got rid of the undesirables, read on to find out how a Slipper Bath might be just what you need in your life (or bathroom)

At Rooks Ridge, we have accounts with some of the largest bathroom suppliers in the country and they tell us that shower cubicles are outselling baths in parts of the UK. There are lots of reasons why, it could be the pace of modern life or the diminishing sizes of the average bathroom but we have yet to take a shower that could be described as relaxing... Most people aren't happy if the water pressure coming from the shower head doesn't strip paint and one customer told us that he uses the shower spray to help brush his teeth in the morning. Showers like this are called 'invigorating' or 'Bracing'. Well, let me tell you, that a walk along Scarborough sea front can also be called 'Bracing' in January but you won't catch me doing it for 15 minutes a day whilst being completely naked...

I know... It's not Scarborough... I couldn't find a single picture on google so I had to use this one from last years holiday...

Maybe its the job that we do and the sore muscles we get (do i hear an 'aaaaaagggghhhh' in sympathy?) but here at Rooks Ridge, we like jumping in a bath and chilling with something refreshing. All those people saying that you are sitting in your own dirt are also wrong... We are usually sitting in our customers dirt as we bring a lot of it home on us at the end of the day! If you want the feeling of total relaxation (and can't afford a personal masseuse) then a slipper bath is the next best thing.

There are loads of reasons to recommend them...

Length.

Even with a 1500mm version, the average 6 footer would probably still be able to get comfy. The reason for this is they generally offer support much higher up the back so you can rest your head at a natural angle.

Width.

Internally, they are slightly narrower than a straight bath so they 'hug' you and can stop you slipping as much. They therefore can take up slightly less room that a Shower bath so can save space in certain situations.

Depth.

You would never cook potatoes without covering them completely in water and we think that should be true at bath-time too. It's lovely to fill a slipper bath nearly to the brim so most of you gets submerged in heavenly bubbles. It keeps you warm for longer and helps to relax those weary muscles at the end of the day. It also makes me feel like that lady from the 1990's Cadbury Flake advert!

Bubbles... If your bath bubbles have a reddish tint then you may need to go visit the doctor...

Style.

Lets be honest, we love showing off to friends and family and a new 'slipper' would give your bathroom instant WOW factor. There are so many different versions on the market but none of them could be described as ugly. We can supply colourful versions, square versions, even double ended ones...

No Taps.

The worst thing i find in a normal bath is that you either get your feet tangled in the plug chain or you burn your neck on the spout of the hot tap when you get in. With a slipper bath, both of these inconveniences are done away with. Taps are either floor standing or are wall mounted and project over the side of the bath. Plugs are remote push pull or 'click clack' so nobody minds sitting at the plug end (and most are in the middle anyway!)

So, if you want to swap your current bath for a fancy new Slipper and want to buck the trend and keep the Bath-makers of Britain gainfully employed for a few more years, get in touch with us here at Rooks Ridge to see how we can help. The prices aren't as steep as the sides of the bath, so we can source and fit one for not much more than a quality (boring!) straight bath...
